|
Friday, 18 May 2012 |
Since November 2010, the Bretagne-Vietnam
House for poor patients has received and accommodated more than 70 poor
patients with congenital heart disease and other diseases, and patients in
functional rehabilitation while they are undergoing functional rehabilitation,
or waiting for regular check-up or for surgery in Hue Central Hospital.
Specifically, in the first quarter of 2012, there were 20 patients. Here we
have worked with various departments of Hue Central Hospital, such as the
Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Surgery and Chest, to provide
accommodations for the poor patients. Besides, the early intervention center so
far has run the pilot classes, including one collective class and one
individual-support class, for 9 mentally-retarded children under 6.
Throughout the activities, we have received the
continuous support and care by Bretagne-Vietnam. We are very glad to receive
the organization’s continued assistance for the children with disabilities in
the time to come. Your assistance gives us another motivation to double our
efforts, so that the poor, disabled children can be helped and stand the chance
of community re-integration.

In the first three months of 2012, the Speech Therapy Team continued to
work with the Physical Therapy Team in support of the kids in the Early
Intervention Program in Hue City and Nam Dong District.
As planned earlier, after a process of therapy, some kids so far have
stopped receiving the therapy within 6 months. Instead, they will continue to
be treated at home under the instructioin of their parents. We are currently
making assessment of a few new cases of those with difficulties in
communication to bring them to the Speech Therapy Program.
In Nam Dong district, the Speech Therapy Team worked with the teachers in
the Early Intervention Program on a unified method of teaching and treatment
for the kids in the Center. By so doing, we have collected much information about the
abilities of each of the kids, and learnt many good experiences in helping the
kids.
