Credibility of
The Youth and Adolescent Centre of Thua Thien Hue Province and the Office
of Genetic Counseling and Disabled Children both provide primary
funding to the Future School. Ms. Hoang
Thi Dieu Hong has taken on the role as
principal since November 2011.
On
December 30th, 2011, the Future school held meetings with staff,
teachers and parents to introduce the new

will be on students enhancing cognitive skills and language, as well
as undertaking social and daily activities to develop skills for real

in-school activities with practice at home. In

children and time spent by students in incense
making and cooking classes. Material

the campus and classrooms. This will
ensure students have a safe, adequate learning

The incense-making and cooking class for students with intellectual disabilities in Future School |
|
Wednesday, 01 February 2012 |
|
In
order to orient students with disabilities over the age of 15 to suitable
occupations, the Future School has opened two vocational classes, one in
incense-making for 13 pupils, and the other in cooking for 15 pupils. Thanks to
the seed funding from Bretagne Vietnam in equipment/utensils and allowance for
teachers in 2009, today the Future School has actively run the incense-making
class in 3 afternoons every week.
Besides,
Lilianne Foundation has given scholarships for 23 students this term, including
12 more students in the cooking class. The students like very much the cooking
class, because they themselves can make and enjoy the daily, simple food such
as those in family meals, fruit juice/fruit shakes, fried and baked cakes, and
some Hue traditional food such as bánh bèo (round rice cake), bánh nậm
(rectangular rice cake with shrimp), bánh lọc (cassava cake with shrimp and
pork) and bún bò Huế (Hue traditional noodles, with beef and pork)
Their
parents are so happy and supportive to these vocational classes, because these
classes give their children not only the opportunities to learn good skills,
but also opportunities for a more independent life later on.
The
school leadership is trying to create more vocational activities that are
suitable to the pupils. We hope to receive support and assistance from
individuals and organizations in occupational orientation for children with
disabilities.
