Unlike normal children, Nguyen Tri Gia Bao was born with an unfortunate fate. Bao’s mother haemorrhaged after his birth and passed away. This meant he could never grow up in the loving arms and soothing lullabies of his mother. As a baby, Bao certainly could not understand how serious his loss was. There was only his father beside him, who was the only person Bao and his siblings could depend on.

nguyen_tri_gia_bao_web1.jpgSince the day Bao’s mother passed away, the lives of the four children depended on the old father because all of Bao’s older siblings were young and were going to school. Bao’s first sister is in 10th grade now and can only go to school with the help of benefactors. Bao’s first brother is in 3rd grade and his second brother is 3 years old. Life got tougher for them since the mother’s death. The father has to take care of all four children while struggling to earn money by working for hire. With his love for his children, Bao’s father works very hard everyday and for long hours. As the work is unstable, hunger has been inevitable for them. Most of their meals comprise of vegetable and sauces. Moreover, it seemed like misfortunes hanguyen_tri_gia_bao_4.jpgve not stopped following the family when Bao was diagnosed with congenital heart disease and needed to have an operation which cost 20,000,000. Finding enough money to make ends meet is already difficult for Bao’s father, let alone earning enough money for the operation. Looking at his child withering away because of the disease, the father could only pray for a miracle to cure his child’s disease.

In the last shot at saving his child, Bao’s father went to OGCDC with the hope that his child could have his operation to return to the family. In front of us was a father with a weathered face holding his child dearly. Together, we gave Bao a glass of milk to drink and a clean shirt to wear. Looking at Bao and his father, we partially understood the difficulties and the lacking they suffered in life. With the support of the benefactors, through OGCDC, Bao had his operation and returned to his family. We felt at peace when we saw the twinkle of happiness in the father’s eyes when he left the office. On behalf of Bao’s family, we would like to express our deep gratitude to the donators who have cared for and helped Bao have a normal heart.
