Witnessing the suffering of child burn victims is often a saddening experience. Over 40% are victims of fire or  contact with boiling water as a result of being left unattended. The children suffer not only physically but also experience the pain of losing their houses, in the cases of fire. Treatment for burn victims is also very painful and expensive. Fees are often higher than 20 million Vietnamese Dong (US$1000). Victims spend months, rather than days or weeks in hospital and the cost is more than some families can manage. Sometimes the children's parents are helpless and are forced to watch their children suffer extreme pain through infections, ugly scars and sadly perhaps death.
