With the support of many organizations and individuals, many children with heart diseases who have poor living conditions were operated on and have returned to normal life. We would like to share with you one of the cases that have received your support – Hoang Trong Nguyen.
Hoang Trong Nguyen was born in the countryside in Thua Thien Hue province. His life would have been similar to other children in the countryside had his mother not passed away when he was only 4 years old. He lived with his father until he was 10, when his father remarried and left him to his grandmother. Since then, Nguyen has lived with his grandmother in a house built by the ward government. Nguyen grew up under the care of his grandmother in 13 years. The pension money of 400,000 Dong each month is not enough to pay off everyday fees for the grandmother and Nguyen. Thus, though she is already 76 years old, Nguyen’s grandmother still tries to cut grasses and to plant vegetables for others in order to earn 0.6 USD each day (the work is not very stable). It is fair to say that they do not have much hope for the future. Time passed and the two people depended on each other despite the poor life. This continued until the day an unfortunate thing happened to the unlucky children. His heart disease was discovered and threatened to take his life away. The only thing that could save Nguyen is a heart operation with the cost of 4,100 USD – a fee that is totally out of their reach. How could they manage to find enough money when their everyday life is already so indigent? The father was also poverty-stricken so he could not help his son either. It is hard enough for the lone grandmother to struggle to earn enou gh money to pay for food for the two of them, let alone to find such a large amount of money. She loved Nguyen very much, hoped to protect Nguyen’s fragile life and wished to have enough money to pay for the operation. One day, the grandmother and Nguyen were introduced to OGCDC to ask for the operation fee for Nguyen. Nguyen’s life was brightened up when he received the generous aid from the sponsors to undergo the heart operation and returned to her grandmother with an intact heart.
Through this, we would like to express our gratitude to the sponsors – the people who gave their effort to bring back the everyday life to Nguyen, his grandmother and all the disabled children.
