Today we would like to share with you the story of Dang Van Tung who has congenital heart disease and has received the support from the donators to undergo heart operation.

Born in Thanh Thuy Chanh hamlet, Thuy Thanh commune, Thua Thien Hue, Dang Van Duc – the father of Dang Van Tung – led a very tough life. Orphaned since 4 years old, he was raised by his aunt with his other two siblings. However this period was not long because the aunt was also very poor.

Thus at ten years old they had to separate to earn a living. He had to beg for food and work for hire to earn money. After 21 years of living away from his hometown to earn money while suffering many misfortunes and having gall stone, his health kept failing. He decided to return to his hometown to rely on his relatives when he was sick. Here, the relatives helped him improve his health. However, he did not have any land or houses so he decided to sell lottery tickets to take care of himself. He would wake up at 5.30 everyday to sell lottery tickets and ride back at 6 pm. When he was lucky he earned about 30,000 VND, some of which was spent on food while the rest was used to buy his medicine. In his days working, he met a girl with a very special situation like his. Her father passed away when she was young; her mother remarried so she had to work early to fend for herself. Two people with the same situation met and empathized with each other; they decided to tie the knot. After some time, good news came to this couple when the wife was pregnant. This, however, came with troubles. Since she was pregnant at an old age and did not have enough nutrition, she was often sick and hospitalized. Their greatest wish was simply to have a healthy child. However, it was only a dream because Dang Van Tung was born with both congenital heart disease and Down syndrome. In their desperation, they could only cry with their child because making ends meet was very difficult for them. Finding 20,000,000 VND, the money required for Tung’s operation was impossible for them.

Thus, they came to OGCDC to ask for sponsorship. With the care and the generous help with the benefactors, Dang Van Tung had a chance to be operated on to have a healthy heart. Happiness knocked on the couple’s door once again. Though the road ahead is still thorny for them, they feel more secured now because they know around them there are benevolent people who would save the unfortunate souls.
